If Aku let himself open his heart to happiness or if someone was willing enough to reach out to him and show him the light then he wouldn’t be such a tyrant…
…. but in the end he ended up dying without getting the chance to experience true happiness and love, and I feel bad for him…. poor baby….
I like teacupballerina’s idea that Ashi is the part of Aku that finally received love and experienced happiness. Her being half-human was just a good excuse to really speed things up. Getting Aku himself to open his ‘heart’ would take tons of dedication and a very long time. It’s easier to change small parts of him at a time, I guess.
Someone’s excited to have gotten this gift! And with that, she runs off to fetch a pair of plates and forks to serve a slice to her boss. “I think it’s best to be shared before the ice cream melts away.”
“WHAT?”
“Which market? I need to stop by there… for some marketstuff.”
“Oh, don’t you know? It’s not an ordinary market! It’s a pocket dimension that’s housed in an ancient artifact.” The girl scoops up her backpack and pulls out a strange, circular object. It looks like a compact face powder.
“The guy is really great, really generous and awesome. He means a whole lot to me! I can show him to you if you want to meet him!”
She opens it up and it shows him his own reflection.
“Mr. Aku, meet the greatest boss I ever had.”
“Let me see that!” He was reaching for the ‘artifact’ just as Azura opened it.
“…” And inside was his own reflection.
“AH HA HA HA HA!” he laughed joyously. “He is much handsomer than I expected. And he is very fortunate to have you as his employee.”

“Very well. I will stay. But first I must know: Who is your favorite boss?”
“It’s hard to say,” she teased. “I think that guy I worked for once at the market was pretty good to me, soooo…”

There was a long pause as Aku stared down at the chocolate-filled box in the hands of his other self… He reached for the box, carefully taking it from his other self. And with a slight furrow of his fiery brows, he nodded.
“… Thank you.”
“You are most welcome.” Aku waited a moment as if he was expecting something. “Now then, what do you have for me?”
