Suddenly on the defensive, Black tipped his hat further down, hiding the BLEMISH betwixt his eyes. Jack had gone for his face, the little shit, and though he’d meant to kill and not just scar his opponent, all he’d done was cause more trouble for himself in the long run. If Aku was wise, he wouldn’t point out the scar again lest he get one of his own to match.
Gripping it harder, Black tamped down the urge to use it on the Yokai and just rolled his eyes.
“You got what you wanted and said nothing about his sword— that makes it mine. I’m keeping it.”
Not to mention he’d already TRIED and FAILED to corrupt it, much less destroy it.
Aku’s expression soured in an instant.
“The sword must be DESTROYED!” No more mere ‘suggestions’ — he demanded its destruction no matter how difficult it might be. “Who’s to say it won’t fall into the hands of some heroic buffoon in the future? That thing is no toy, Hat! We must find a means to its obliteration!”
“I… can’t argue with the Frosty one but WHY THANOS?! He’s the worst! I have a better father figure! How about Aku, huh? At least he’s not out rampaging on planets and conquering… them…”
“………”
“Aw, shit.”
“Don’t forget I do MY galaxy–conquering in the name of pure and honest EVIL, not some flimsy pretense of self-righteous philanthropy.”
That clearly makes him the Superior father-figure and conqueror.
And a performance it was, Black was sure of that. The little choking noises his opponent had made in the throes of death were nothing short of entertaining, and he found himself smiling again at the thought of it.
Though the smile was soon replaced with a scowl at the mention of the PITY expression Jack had given him. Was he not worth the most hate filled stare as they battled? Apparently for the human it was too MUCH, taking a life, he must have felt terrible as he turned to leave. Lucky for him, he’d not been able to kill Black Hat— NO ONE could kill Black Hat— but all the same the eldritch wondered if he still harbored the guilt of going for the killshot.
“He was too trusting and full of nothing but pity for his morals. I didn’t think he could do it, killing someone that resembled him.”
Narrowing his eyes, Black sunk the tip of the sword into the ground to rest upon the fabric covering it’s hilt.
“Naturally he knows BETTER now.”
Aku drew lower and closer, eyeing the blade briefly before his gaze met Black’s once again. As much as that hat tried to cover it, Aku still caught a peek of what lie beneath the brim. “I see you did not escape the blade’s wrath unscathed.”
It seemed Black was willing to suffer for success. Aku on the other hand? Not so much. Not if he could avoid it and especially not if he could find someone else who was willing to suffer in his place. The Samurai might be dead thanks to Black but the sword was still a matter to consider.
“In the right hands, this sword is a threat to all that is evil,” he spoke knowing full well of the harm it could do to beings like himself… and like Black Hat. “I say we see to its immediate destruction.”
“That is because I DIDN’T know they existed until recently,” he snarled at the insinuation behind the robot’s words. “Had I known sooner, I would have taken them at birth!”
Aku, of course, would have had no idea how to care for seven infants. It was probably good fortune that he didn’t learn of them until they were a bit older.
“Yeah, you totally seem like the kind of guy to be able take care of 7 infants” The core rolled his optic. “Those spikes are great playthings for small vulnerable infants!”
“Oh and I am sure YOU were built for childcare, what with your smooth metal surfaces and lack of notable appendages. I bet you can change a dozen soiled diapers with that charming wit of yours.”
Careful to keep the blade away from himself as he stroked his ego, Black Hat sauntered up with a smug smile. He’d done it alright, killed that damn samurai– and though he didn’t need the money, he felt he should at least go through with their little DEAL.
“I said I could kill him and I did. It was unfortunate you weren’t there to see it, but I suppose his attention would have been on you if you were.”
“Unfortunate, perhaps. But I was able to view the entire performance after the fact. That look he gave you — you know the one…” Aku grinned knowing Black would recall exactly what look he was referring to. “That was worth a thousand laughs.”
The demon lord chuckled in malevolent amusement as he thought of it. Such a fool the Samurai had been to have sympathy for a creature like Black Hat.
“It was as if he thought of you as…human.”
“Apparently, so long as you dress in human clothing, you may as well be one, am I right? Heh heh heheheh!”
Still reveling in his foe’s death, Aku laughed with joyous cruelty. With the Samurai dead, there was no one left to wield his wretched, righteous weapon.
“Almost as much as I enjoyed the gift you left me!”
