“That depends. Do slaves and hostages count as pets?”

Aku demonstrating how to carve a Jack-O-Lantern. First carve Jack’s face on a pumpkin then stab it repeatedly.
- They do bad things because they’re scared.
- They’re gullible or misinformed. Example: somebody who has been told the heroes are out to hurt them.
- They are desperate for interaction, validation, kindness, or attention, and the dark side gives them those things.
- They want to change their allegiance, but are pressured by people close to them to stay evil.
- They have an otherwise noble goal that they will do literally anything to achieve. Example: somebody who wants to protect their child, even if it means throwing other children into danger.
I was feeling pretty sick today and was watching TV when this episode of M*A*S*H came on (the Rainbow Bridge episode). I noticed this guy looked really familiar and was like “…Hey, it’s Mako!” Mako Iwamatsu was Aku’s original voice actor. Here he is being really young.
Also Aku’s reaction if Jack pulled out a tiny sword.
This looks like a cute comic.
Recurring things I wonder about:
If Aku wanted Samurai Jack dead so badly, why didn’t he just blow up Jack’s head with one glance like he did to Scaramouche? It would have been so much easier than trying to fight him. On a similar note, why didn’t he use his telekinetic powers to toss Jack over a cliff or steal his sword away?
I mean, I know the technical reason: there would be no show, Aku would win, the end. But trying to come up with an IC reason is baffling. Stupid cartoon logic…
Some screen caps I took.
Black Hat’s newspaper reads: ‘Idiot turns bunch of trees into our doom’

I meant to post this on Arbor Day but I forgot.
