I don’t know how you guys are gonna react to the fact that she had the intention to seek out the infinity stones herself and use it to erase Gaster out of existence.
Aku would volunteer to be her partner in crime immediately!
Since I haven’t been feeling well to write more drabbles about where Azura is right now I’m just gonna tell you this.
During the chase with Fluffy, Azura tore holes into the worlds she passes through. and someone, or some thing called the Guardians of Space and Time are fricking pissed that there’s these gaping holes in the multiverse that needed to be patched up.
So. As punishment and a way to stop her from doing something like that again, they encased her in a time bubble where she won’t feel like escaping anytime soon, making her think that she’s home and she has no reason to leave since this world practically has her old life back home.
All outside communication would be a bit difficult to pass through since it’ll shatter the illusion that her memories were just dreams, but it’s not entirely impossible to bypass it. She’ll be in a haze and a daze and needs to remember with full conviction that this is not her reality, no matter how good it is.
Oh and people would need a reason to convince her that she should leave this dream world and face the harsh reality that she’s being hunted down by Gaster. Fffff
Aku’s essence can’t speak but it’ll probably follow her around or hide in her school bag if she tries to get rid of it. (Like a puppy that thinks she’s its master.)
“EXCELLENT!” Aku rejoiced, throwing his clawed hands into the air. But his joy was short-lived as he saw Azura lower her head. Once again that strange and unsettling feeling gripped his chest. What was it? Guilt?
The demon’s hands rested on his lap like two dead weights and his expression turned sorrowful.
“I deeply regret that I could not be of help to you, Azura,” he spoke, his head bowed in shame. The best he’d been able to do was stop himself from becoming another source of pain for her. A moment of silence passed before Aku’s horns perked up slightly as hope returned.
“But it seems that you have found a way to remove his mark.”
“I… did, didn’t I?”
A small smile appeared on her face, and the girl gently patted the shogun with her hand, trying her best to comfort him.
“And it’s alright, Mr. Aku. As long as he had that stupid goop on my soul, no one could help me. I’m really grateful that you didn’t intervene, I always thought that the lesser people were involved, it’d be easier to pry myself out of it, you know? And I couldn’t give Gaster the advantage of using those close to me against me.” Gaster was a tough opponent, but with her being alive and well? She was confident that she’s tougher. A success like this was something that she should be proud of.
As someone who had never been comforted by anyone before, Aku looked mildly baffled when Azura patted his hand. Though in a way, it did help to put him slightly more at ease.
“As unusual as it may sound, I am the last being that wishes to cause you harm,” he said and boy he wasn’t lying about how unusual it was. It was one thing to think such thoughts, quite another to give voice to them. He felt almost dirty at how pure it sounded.
“When I confronted the Doctor, he made it clear to me that he would not hesitate to damage your soul. I admit that I feared for you after the fiend evaded my attempts to destroy him. But it is clear to me now just how strong you have become!” The demon sat tall, his chest filled with infinite pride at how far she had come.
“As a being of darkness, I may be unable to defeat that monster,” he confessed. “But I fully believe that you can.”
Azura, being someone who was genuinely fearful of butterflies, was baffled when she found herself gently cupping the fluttering creature instead of shooing it out.
“Don’t worry, I got you.” The girl said in a gentle tone, full of warmth and care. She brought the butterfly to her bedroom window and set it by the windowsill.
But the pesky insect didn’t seem eager to fly away or leave her hand. When Azura tried to set it down, it perched on her hand once more and there it sat, opening and closing its wings. The bright red coloration on its wings looked atypical of any known species and seemed to resemble small flames.
Whatever type of butterfly happened to be, it was content to rest on her hand as though it had found what it was looking for.
The demon placed a hand upon Azura’s head and gazed at her for a moment. It was just so good to see her again and to hear her voice.
“I am glad your soul is back where it belongs,” Aku smiled. But as good as she looked on the outside, he couldn’t help but worry. With his hand still on her head, he leaned closer, his smile fading.
“Is it still there?” he asked quietly. “The thing on your soul?”
“No!” She said cheerfully. “After so long, I finally got to pry his hold on me, somehow…”
“It’s odd. I never think that I’d actually be… free, you know? After what I’ve been through. After what he put me in, all the torture, the taunts… I really- I had accepted that I was a goner. But now I’m here. In this cozy shack. With friends and you, visiting me.”
“I really thought I’d never be able to see anyone ever again.”
So the goo was gone?
“EXCELLENT!” Aku rejoiced, throwing his clawed hands into the air. But his joy was short-lived as he saw Azura lower her head. Once again that strange and unsettling feeling gripped his chest. What was it? Guilt?

There she was, alive and awake! In a streak of fluid darkness, the demon leaped from the doorway to the edge of her bed where he seated himself promptly.
“Through the front door. How else?” He raised his claws in a big shrug and smiled excitedly. “But who cares? YOU’RE ALIVE!”
That was what mattered most, after all.
“I guess I am. I mean, I spent some time as a floating soul, and only returned back to my body a few days ago. Mr. Pines took me in and let me rest here. Thoth healed me back to perfect health last night.”
Azura smiled. Aku was the least expected visitor that she would anticipate, but she was glad to see him again. Very glad. It’s been a long time since she had seen him, after all.
The demon placed a hand upon Azura’s head and gazed at her for a moment. It was just so good to see her again and to hear her voice.

Azura was there on the bed, being half asleep after panicking the whole night through from the thought that Gaster’s gonna be there to get her like death itself. So when Aku peered inside with his ominous and dark form, Azura’s eyes caught his shape by the door and she froze in her bed. Out of fear? Or out of paranoia? It was hard to say.
Then she caught the smell of campfire filling the room and she dared to turn around and take a peek. It was her boss!
Wait.
It was her boss??
“Mr. Aku! How on earth- how did you get in here?”
