“Because shapeshifting is an essential part of what makes me Aku. I am free to be any shape and size I desire.”
She giggles at that, smiling. “So then, why change your shape?”

She snorts. “Oh, that’s okay. You’re just fine as you are.”
“E X A C T L Y.”
“Hm, sometimes. Or maybe that everyone was as tiny as me,” she giggled. “But only sometimes.”
“I could be as tiny as you are.”
“But I don’t feel like it.”
He’d rather be large and in charge.
“I mean, not like you can. Changing sizes and all that. I make only slight adjustments, you know?” She shifted back.
“Hmmm, yes, I think I understand.”
Changing sizes, she said? The demon grinned.
“You wish you could be tall.”
“Sometimes I wish I could change my shape like you do.”
“I thought you could do that.”
Was he wrong? Was that why she was sniffing him?
“It’s in an interesting smell! Not bad.” Then she blinked. “Oh, I mean–sorry for startling you.”
“Not bad? But I am supposed to reek of EVIL.”
Lori squeaks, then giggles, nose still twitching. “Sorry.”
“What? What is it?”
Aku squinted down at her.Was she sorry because she smelled him? Or was she sorry because he smelled?
Lori squints as she sniffs him.
What? Who?
“HUH?”
She blinked. “But you’ve never given me reason to fear you before.”
“Perhaps you are simply unobservant.”
“Oh–!” Lori jerked away, laughter gone, hands clutched tight against her chest. “Um. N-Never mind.”
“So NOW you decide to be afraid of me.”
Aku rolled his eyes. Well that took long enough.
